Excellent starting point and reference for learning French!
This is a great starting point to learning French, with a solid background on basic history and usage of the language. It’s dense with information without feeling dense to read. I really liked that all the general rules for the language are laid out early. A lot of the word and sentence compositions I was becoming aware of by my own studies were succinctly defined and gave me many “Ah-ha” moments! The 101 most used words are listed and defined and shown how they are typically used. Examples are given for everything, which is very appreciated! I recommend this book for anyone just starting to learn French as it provides a very solid foundation in the language.

Comprehensive guide
I am a big fan of the French Hacking series, they have helped me learn the language. This book is an excellent guide in pronunciation as well as numbers. It actually breaks down how to pronounce syllables and has drawings of where the tongue should be in the mouth. French can be difficult for English learners as you are using your tongue differently to make the sounds. Try this book out, you will not regret it or their other books.
